Week
49 – December 4, 2016
We are coming to the end of our “52 weeks to be prepared”! These last 4 weeks will be a review of the previous 48 weeks. This week is a review of a basic 72 hour kit and first aid kit. The following 3 weeks will list the basic long-term foods you'll need (for a family of 2) as per the Provident Living website.
A
motto that I like is “Two is one and one is none”. In other
words, if you only have one method of doing something...be it
lighting a fire or purifying water, and that one method ends up not
working, or got ruined, etc., you need to have a back up method.
Always plan on at least 2 ways to do anything when preparing for a
survival situation.

- “We encourage you to be more self-reliant so that, as the Lord has declared, ‘notwithstanding the tribulation which shall descend upon you, … the church may stand independent above all other creatures beneath the celestial world’. The Lord wants us to be independent and self-reliant because these will be days of tribulation. He has warned and forewarned us of the eventuality.” (Ezra T. Benson, “Prepare for the Days of Tribulation”, October 1980)
