FAMILY PREPAREDNESS:
Check all windows around the house and make sure they work properly to use as an exit, in case of an emergency. Teach all family members how to operate the windows and give specific permission to break their window if it will not open in a TRUE emergency. If windows are on a 2nd story - have an emergency ladder available in each room and instruct how to use it.

SPIRITUAL PREPAREDNESS:
"Recent surveys of Church members have shown a serious erosion in the number of families who have a year’s supply of life’s necessities. Most members plan to do it. Too few have begun. . . It is our sacred duty to care for our families, including our extended families" (Thomas S. Monson, Ensign, Sept. 1986)
